My name is Marietta La Barbera, I am a freshman in the Pardee School of Global Studies, majoring in International Relations with a minor in French. I am taking the European Studies regional track and International Systems and World Order functional track. Growing up in both New York and Miami, I was immersed in multicultural environments and made friends from all over the world. My parents wanted me to have a global experience, so they made it their mission to show me the world. Their passion for travel and exposure to new cultures rubbed off on me, and I am endlessly curious. As I was drawn to international relations, I saw countries that I had visited go through political conflict, social unrest and suffer the pain of terrorism. Watching how the world changes every day, I want to be involved as a part of those changes. In high school I joined the Model United Nations club where I was able to work out real world issues with other students. The conflict resolution practices of Model UN led to my ambition of pursuing a future in diplomacy. Today, I look forward to the opportunities BU has for me to achieve my goals.
