Samira Saran is proud to be serving as President of the Gamma Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon in her Junior year. She is a Political Science BA/MA degree candidate and is also pursuing a minor in International Relations. Though she was born in Boston, Samira has spent the past decade of her life relocating around the US and Asia with her family, and is proud to call 5 countries her home. Her international background fostered a passion for global affairs from a young age, and Samira now maintains a keen interest in national security studies, law, and foreign policy grand strategy. She joined DPE in the Spring of her Freshman year, attracted by the strong sense of community, professionalism, and overall diversity the organization possesses. She spent the Summer working as an Intelligence Analyst with a US Government agency and currently works as a research assistant at BU’s Political Science Department.
Austin is a junior double majoring in International Relations and Political Science, and is incredibly excited and honored to be serving as Vice President of the fraternity. Born in Richardson, TX and raised in Ottawa and Seoul, Austin’s interest in global affairs sparked at an early age. Once he came to BU, he was lucky enough to pledge Delta Phi Epsilon his first semester of freshman year and made incredible friends from all over the world that shared his passion for global affairs. Austin spent this past spring studying abroad in London interning at Overseas Development Institute; he can probably talk to you about his weekend solo trips across Europe for hours. When he is not working, Austin can usually be found in his room watching soccer or venturing with Korean food recipes.
Yordanos Kassa (also known as Jordi) is a junior majoring in International Relations, with a minor in Korean Language and Literature, serving as secretary for the 2019-2020 school year. As native Arlingtonian and the child of Ethiopian immigrants, she was always aware of the two different environments she grew up in; this eventually led to her career interest in global affairs. She joined DPE her spring semester of freshman year to find a community that shared similar backgrounds and passion for issues relating to international relations. Outside of her role of secretary, she is also involved in Pardee’s Dean Ambassador program, where she is currently working on improving accessibility within study abroad programs. In the near future, she hopes to go to graduate school and work alongside NGOs that focus on the development of African nations.

Ecstatic to be Treasurer of the Gamma Chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon, Nathan Plowman leads with passion in every aspect of his life. He is majoring in International Relations with a double minor in Latin American Studies. Nathan has had an interest in global affairs since he was a child. Having being raised in a military family, he moved across the country and world a multitude of times as a result. This interest has matured into an intense interest in focusing on Latin America and developing ways on how to bridge the cultural divide between the United States and Latin America. DPE struck him as a perfect organization for him to join because it allowed him the opportunity to connect with other individuals who had a similar intent, as well as gain connections in both the public and private sectors. This summer, Nathan had the opportunity to dive into the non-profit world by interning with the American Diabetes Association, which allowed him to experience the impact the ADA and other non-profits have on minority groups in the United States.
